Book 6 - The Boyfriend App

      title - The Boyfriend App

      author - Katie Sise

genre - realistic fiction, contemporary fiction

      number of pages - 312

      date I read it - July 14-15, 2013

Rose - This book was original, and was written in something that could be made or  happen today.  Apps are extremely popular nowadays and almost everyone uses them.

Thorn - Although I do realize this is a fictional book and not a how to book I feel like it would be kind of cool if it had more information on how Audrey (the main character) programed the app.

Bud - Because this book is about apps, this book is one that the people from this generation will definitely understand.

Book 5 - Criss Cross

      title - Criss Cross

      author - Lynne Rae Perkins

      genre - fiction

      number of pages - 337

      date I read it - July 12-13, 2013

Rose - Once I started understanding/ following the book it became pretty good.   I think Debbie was a great character in the book.

Thorn - The first few chapters I didn't understand, was lost while trying to understand how they all connected.

Bud - This book gives you  a sense of an earlier time with different things, like clothing styles. However, it also shows you how something still haven't changed, like having block parties or needing to be at least 16 to drive.

Book 4 - Kira-Kira

      title - Kira-Kira

      author - Cynthia Kadohata

      genre - realistic fiction

      number of pages - 244

      date I read it - July 8 - 10, 2013

Rose - I really loved how this narrative could have been any Japanese family during that time (1950's and 1960's). It had a wonderful flow to it and had many unexpected events.

Thorn - I believe the author could have added more on the change between the two homes; like how
they lived in the first house. I didn't really understand the way the two sisters spent there day when they lived in Iowa.

Bud -  I think this book would be most enjoyed by people who want something really good, but serious.

Book 3 - If You Find Me

title - If You Find Me

      author - Emily Murdoch

      genre - contemporary fiction

      number of pages - 248

      date I read it - July 10-11, 2013

Rose - I loved all the characters and felt like I was in the story with them; in the woods and experiencing a new "modern" life.  Emily did a great job of really making the book flow and capturing the reader in the first few pages.

Thorn - I really couldn't think of anything to suggest. Great book front to back cover.

Bud - This book really makes you realize how advanced and "disruptive" our everyday world can be.  This book is definitely  a thriller that keeps you hovering on the edge of your seat.

             bye,
                Coco :)

Book 2- The Watcher

      title - The Watcher

      author - James Howe

      genre - fiction

      number of pages - 173

      date I read it -  July 2, 2013

Rose -
In this book, I think I especially liked the fact that it was told from 3 different points of view.  This book really wasn't just one story there were many; it was a story within a story.

Thorn - Although in the book I really enjoyed the different points of view, I felt like there needed to be more about "the Watcher".

Bud - This book really makes you think about other people you don't know so well,  and the judgments you make of them.

Book 1- The Face on the Milk Carton

title - The Face on the Milk Carton

      author - Caroline B. Cooney

      genre - realistic fiction

      number of pages - 184

      date I read it - June 30, 2013

Rose - In this book i really liked how the author found a way to alter the story, even when it appeared you had already reached the climax.

Thorn - I felt like the author could have added more to the background of the main character, and more on her friends.

Bud - I think this book would be most enjoyed by people who want to read a good, but fast read book.
